WILLEMSTAD — The participation of Curaçao’s national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup has brought tremendous excitement and pride to the people of the island. Curaçao has become a record holder, earning a place in the history books as the smallest nation ever to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, an achievement that is a source of great pride for every Yu di Kòrsou (Curaçaoan).
His excellency Governor Maurits de Kort highlighted this historic accomplishment, together with Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and his cabinet, as well as the football federation president Gilbert Martina and his team. Lina Hidalgo, Harris County Judge in Texas, also congratulated Curaçao on this remarkable achievement. As Miles Mercera, CEO of CINEX, stated: “Curaçao’s message to the world is simple: We are here!”
